{"id":4676,"date":"2026-08-13T14:50:08","date_gmt":"2026-08-13T12:50:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ellistat.com\/?post_type=guide-dutilisateur&#038;p=4676"},"modified":"2026-08-13T14:50:08","modified_gmt":"2026-08-13T12:50:08","slug":"table-of-contents-8","status":"publish","type":"guide-dutilisateur","link":"https:\/\/ellistat.com\/en\/guide-dutilisateur\/sommaire-8\/","title":{"rendered":"Table of Contents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other menus from <a href=\"https:\/\/ellistat.com\/en\/data-analysis-solutions\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"905\">Data Analysis<\/a>\u00a0<strong>describe<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>are testing<\/strong>\u00a0: They show how your measurements are distributed, whether two populations differ, and which factors matter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This Machine Learning menu takes another step forward by building a\u00a0<strong>model<\/strong>, that is, a function that predicts Y based on X, and then uses it to\u00a0<strong>find the best setting<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The menu features four starters that are designed for two very distinct situations, and confusing the two wastes a lot of time:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>You already have the data<\/strong>\u00a0: a history, a design of experiments you've carried out\u2026 and you want to derive a model from it and then optimize it: that's\u00a0<strong>Machine Learning<\/strong>\u00a0then\u00a0<strong>Optimization<\/strong>\u00a0in the case of finding a compromise among several Ys; <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>You don't have the data yet<\/strong>\u00a0and each test is expensive: you want the software to tell you which tests to run first to cover the study area, and then to tell you which tests to run next in the region of interest.
