Configuring the APC in Standalone Mode: A Practical Example
The APC Configuration training course is designed for administrators and key users responsible for maintaining the APC system in their workshop. Over the course of three days, you will learn how to set up the workshop layout, configure a part from start to finish (features, tools, offsets, and coefficient matrix), and then control it in a closed-loop system. All hands-on training takes place on a FANUC CNC simulator using an Ellistat sample part: you’ll work under real-world conditions without taking your production machines offline.
The goal: to empower your teams to configure new parts and deploy the APC across all your product lines.

Objectives
- Understand how the closed-loop system works and the roles of the administrator and the key user
- Configure the workshop structure: sites, workshops, machine families, and machines
- Configure a complete part: specifications, tools, corrections, and coefficient matrix
- Put a part into production and verify the corrections calculated by the APC
- Be able to independently set up new product listings
For whom
APC administrators and key users: process engineers, lead set-up technicians, and production or quality managers responsible for configuring and deploying the APC in their workshop.
Prerequisites
- Knowledge of machining on CNC machine tools.
- Reading blueprints and basic dimensioning concepts.
Duration
21 hours of in-person training over 3 consecutive days (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).
Sessions and Enrollment
- Open enrollment sessions in late January, late April, and late September.
- 5 to 10 participants per session. A session will be held if there are at least 5 registrants.

Day 2 – Set Up a Room
- Creating the part and its properties
- Machine setup for the part: reference marks, tools, fixtures, and compensators
- Construction of the Coefficient Matrix
Day 3 – Leading and Bringing the APC to Life
- Launch of the sample part on the FANUC simulator
- Reviewing and verifying corrections sent to the machine
- Common scenarios: tool change, drift, new part version
- Best Practices for Rolling Out New Products
