The menu offers six tests. The choice depends primarily on the the nature of your variables, following the question asked.
| Your variables are… | Your question | Analysis |
| All quantitative | How are my traits related? | ACP |
| All qualitative | Which terms go together? | ACM |
| Mixed | Both at the same time | FAMD |
| All quantitative | Is this piece unusual, taking all its characteristics into account? | Hotelling's T² |
| Quantitative | Can I group my individuals into families? | Unsupervised classification |
| Quantitative | What is the structure of the neighborhood, without specifying the number of families? | Dendrogram |
💡 ACP, ACM, and FAMD are all part of the same family of analyses. If you select only quantitative variables in FAMD, you will get exactly the result of the PCA. Use the FAMD as soon as an attribute needs to be included in the analysis.
